The Santa Maria Open Space non-profit is based of a small group of volunteers with a common interest in creating a recreational trail system that would serve the community of Orcutt and the people of Santa Maria Valley. The Open Space area is truly awesome. It's the kind of place where you can stop at the motel on a Monday night, grab a drink and your dogs, and be on a trail and heading up the hill in 5 or 10 ten minutes. Very easy access to and from the trails and it's completely safe with like minded individuals.
As you can see some of the trails are dirt trails and the ones closer to the beach are sand trails. A great combination. I could spend all day out here to be honest. Perfect weather, around 72 degrees right now at 2:30 PM. I read that they run 5k and 10k's here on the Orcutt trails. The sun is bright!
