Good evening my wonderful fellow steemians!
Tonight I wanted to share a bit about where I'm currently at with my projects and what has been happening in my life. I have been jamming on the Surthrival Trailer project, but hit a bit of a dilemma today trying to come up with a method to mount the hinged panels to the angle piece I attached earlier this week.
My buddy AJ came over to help me out this evening, and gave me a great suggestion that I plan to implement tomorrow so I can make the mounting operation much safer. It will be less risky than my original concept of using tall saw horses to mount the panels. For some reason, I thought I needed to hold the panels horizontal or parallel to the ground. I guess I was just pushing to get it done and had tunnel vision.
Here are some photo's of what is currently happening on my urban homestead/backyard lab.
The chiggins are goofy as always :) they are funny creatures. They figured out how to get out of their chicken run this morning and were hunting the backyard for bugs. As soon as I came outside with some of their feed, they followed me right back to their coop.
My buddy AJ came over to help me move the solar panel assembly to mount on the trailer. We moved it, then realized there was a better way, so I will finish the operation tomorrow.
The tale of two goji berries, I planted one near a thornless blackberry and one on its own. The one near the thornless blackberry looks like its doing well and possibly developing fruit already. It's been super dry, but this is a raised hügelkultur bed I set up a couple years ago, so everything in here is not feeling it so hard with the lack of rain.
This guy is struggling pretty hard right now, but has some signs of life.
Here is the Aquaponics system with a new addition of a flood and drain pebble media bed. I had to talk with
Hive account@robbieolson earlier this week about some high ammonia readings I was taking with my API Freshwater Test kit. He suggested I add a media bed to give more surface area for the beneficial bacteria to thrive. It will also help to filter more solids from the system to clarify the water returning to the fish tank.
Finally, here is a shot of the greenhouse and Aquaponics system getting ready for a limestone base to be put down. I covered the soil with 6mil black plastic for weed prevention and will lay down limestone over top to make a natural thermal mass base for the greenhouse and keep out weeds.
Thank you for your time if you checked out my post! Peace, Joy, and Abundance
