Last weekend my girlfriend and I decided to make a spontaneous trip to a place called Timmendrofer Strand which is a beach in the city of Niendorf, Germany. We really enjoyed the time and the breeze from the baltic sea. Of course, I took the chance to take my camera with me to share some views with you!
The first post about this trip will be about a special sculpture you probably already have seen in the thumbnail.
The City of Niendorf set up many different weird and beautiful art pieces along the promenade. One of them is especially noticeable from far away - "Nase im Wind" / "Wind in the nose" freely translated.
This 4 meters high, kinetic sculpture rotates around its center only by the force of the wind. It is inspired by a few German idiomatic expressions just like:
- Immer den richtigen Riecher haben -> to always have the correct smell (having a good intuition)
- Immer eine Nasenlänge vorraus -> always be (a nose length) ahead
If you ever visit northern Germany someday - you can find the sculpture here:
The "Nase im Wind" is one of many sculptures made by Mirko Siakkou-Flodin who is famous for his metal art. He creates pictures made out of metal too but he is more known for his sculptures decorating public spaces all over Germany. Findout more about him by following this link: http://www.mo-metalart.de/
In the next post about our trip I will share more picutres of the Niendorf harbor.
Thanks for passing by and I would be pleased to read some comments :)
Peace!
