Few days ago I've visited a ancient and historical Palace. It is actually the palace of The Great Queen-Queen Mainamati. Locally the place is known by several names. These names are RANIR KUTHI, RANIR BANGLO etc. But according to the govt. documents, books/text books the place is introduced by the name of Mainamati Ranir Bihar. Its situated near the Comilla-Sylhet highway in the middle of the village named Mainamati. Actually the place named Mainamati is blessed with a lot of beautiful spot, both history and historical place. There's a lot of Palace's and Temples and all of them are thousand years old. And The Ranir Bihar is one of the best & beautiful places of Mainamati. According to the history and the result of the researches the palace is almost 2,500 years old. Its in the top of the hilly area of Mainamati. There's a lot of local tales about the Palace. Queen Mainamati was one of the legendary Queen's of the history of Bangladesh. She was also called by the name Chandra Queen. She was the mother of The Great Chandra King - Raja Govinda Chandra. Raja Govinda Chandra was the last ruler of Chandra family. It's told that Queen Mainamati was the best beautiful women of that time. She was helpful,honest, pure hearted and also a great ruler. That's why the people of her Kingdom loved and respected her from the core of their heart. The name of both of the palace and the area was named by her name to show respect to her.
Now let's talk about the palace.
The building quality of the palace is too strong till now. The structure of the palace is amazing. The great structure made the palace beautiful and safe. The palace was a unbreakable fort and also one of the beautiful palace of that time. There is a heavy, strong wall around the palace, which made it more safe. There are a lot of secret paths for the people and soliers into the palace to keep the people safe from the enemy. According to the history and the details that is found from scientific researches the palace was built during 8th to 12th century CE. It was a great experience for me to visit a great place like this. I'm proud to have such a historical place in my home district Cumilla.
