Trump was likely truly a populist, anti-elite, w/ a dose of masochistic narcissism and hero complex, who sincerely thought he could take on and beat the Elite Deep State at their own game, which was thoroughly rigged against him and thwarted him at all levels of the bureaucracy, the media and Big Tech, the scientific-academic complex and elite popular culture. His victory, for a second term, would have only delayed, but not reversed, the inevitable. His loss speeds up the process of ruination, which may be better than a slow death. Since he himself was not ideological, he also demonstrated tactical confusion in policies he chose to pursue, including, often-times, pursuing anti-conservative and anti-liberty policies, thereby alienating many potential allies and energy on the right, without currying much new favor from the grassroots left. His biggest contribution was the visual desecration of the veneer of erudition, decency and high statesmanship duplicitously donned by the once-hallowed office — many awakened to the fact that the emperor has no clothes. Let us pray they remain awake.
