I can understand that Americans got tired of families running the white house but Trump? He's not really the alternative we had in mind. This makes me wonder if the current system in America is still the best electoral system for them. What I mean is that, for example, this was only the fifth time in US history that a race was won by the candidate with less votes than the other.
Does this election mean that all Americans are all of a sudden turning republican? no it most certainly does not. In my opinion, Trumps election was won by the political cycle. What I mean is that after several terms of democratic presidents, it's natural and healthy for a country to mix it up. Clinton fans will bash me for saying this but America is a democracy, the people decide.
Let me be clear, I don't support Trump but actually I don't like Hillary too. This was an election that failed after the primaries in my opinion.
And Trump got elected but what concerns me is that the house of representatives and the senate was also won by the red party. This may only last two years because of the midterms but who knows what the future holds with Trump's social media rage hovering only a few inches above the nuclear attack buttons.
In conclusion, I don't think we all have to rush to Canada. He's not even president yet, so in case you want to flee, do it before mid januari. I doubt he'll make the country great again, whatever that means...
See you next time
