I'm very thankful I have people who have gone before me, paved the way, stayed the path, and not quit on their faith! I know I wouldn't have my own personal steadfast faith without seeing it exemplified in the lives of my family members, friends and amazing leaders & pastors. The most astounding thing to me is seeing a man/woman of faith who STICKS IT OUT!
I once went to visit my great grandma who was well in her 90s at the time. As I walked in she had her bible open in her lap. Her bible had so many things highlighted and marked it looked like a sleeve tattoo. I asked her about what she was reading and her eyes welled up with tears as she shared her love for Jesus and His word! That's my GOAL in life! (#goals) How inspiring to see a woman 90+ years young, who has fixed her eyes on Jesus through the highs and lows of life.
I think to be a man/woman of faith means you choose to stay the course... come what may. There are times in life when this may come easily and other moments where we actually need to get out our shovels, role up our sleeves, and DIG DEEP. The story of Job in the bible is always a crazy one to wrap my head around. He lost EVERYTHING yet chose to have "staying power" and not give up on God. I'm so glad he didn't throw in the towel or give up because in Job 42:12 it actually says, "So The Lord blessed Job in the second half of his life even more than in his beginning."
A theme in my life is TRUST! Very often when I pray about things, bring my needs before God I hear these words in my heart..."do you trust me?" My answer is of course, "yes" but then again, "do you trust me?" It's easier said then done but keeping an uncomplicated trust in God helps eliminate so much stress and drama.
My 2 year old son has a bottle of milk every night before bed. As I put him into bed he asks for his "Mimi" which we quickly warm and bring to him. In those few minutes that he waits for his milk he doesn't scream, shout and lose the plot because he trusts that mommy or daddy are coming. He is completely confident and sure we will bring him milk. He usually sings songs and has some nice chats while he waits. I think having a genuine trust means we don't always question everything. Having a genuine trust looks like us singing like my little boy and being content while we wait, knowing that Gods coming. He will come through. He won't leave us hanging! Proverbs 3:5 says, "Trust in The Lord with ALL your heart and lean not on your own understand, acknowledge Him in all you do and He will direct your path." Gods got THIS... Whatever "this" may look like for you.
So if I can encourage you with anything today it would just be stick around, keep trusting God, then TRUST again. Let's choose to stay the path and never give up, come what may! Like those who have gone before us in their faith, you never know who YOU'RE paving the way for.
Much love
