Good Evening Steemians,
I want to address the electric car market and reveal some facts that many people may not be aware of.
We've all heard the claim that electric cars are "saving the planet" or that they are the solution to the automotive CO2 climate problem. However, these electric cars may not be "saving the planet" like we once thought..
A study performed by the IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute revealed that the CO2 released during the battery production of Tesla cars is equal to the amount of CO2 released from 7-8 years of driving a gasoline powered car. This means that you would have to drive your electric powered car for more than 7 years to gain an environmental advantage.
Let's also not forget about the disposal of the car batteries. This can pose a huge dilemma when more electric vehicles are produced and on the road.
Changing the methods we use to produce these batteries and generating new, green, and innovative ideas to dispose of the batteries should be a main focus for Tesla and other electric car manufacturers.
To conclude, although the production, use, and disposal of electric cars does still not outweigh the negative impacts on the environment as gasoline powered cars do...Tesla may not be as green as you once thought.
Have a good night and as always keep steemin' on.
