Wow,
So I go to log into Tsu today and discover a message that the site has gone dark. http://www.tsu.co/bitcoindood
It sounds pretty final too. The site claims that anyone meeting the minimum payout requirement will have checks issued, and I guess anyone that's under $100 will just have to suck it up. That just plain sucks.
The Dood got lucky and my tiny account accrued about $30.00 over the last year or so. Just last week I had sent it to a friend who needed $25.00 dollars to meet his payout, and he reimbursed me in bitcoin. How lucky was that? Anyway, for The Dood, it was never about the money. Make no mistake about it, I originally came for the money but stayed for the friendships I made and the interactions that I came to love on Tsu. There were some really great people on there and I hope to cross paths again with more than a few of them in the future.
So, about the blog. So many people ask me about bitcoindood.com and why I don't just steemit, or tsu, or facebook. What happened at Tsu is the exact reason I have my personal blog site. It's mine, as long as I pay the domain, it can be moved from server to server and the only person that has control over it is me! I don't have to worry about any form of censorship, I'm in control of how many people get to see it, and I can do with it what I want. In this day and age it's important to be self sufficient. Companies come and go, and although I don't think Steemit is going anywhere anytime soon, it's nice to know I have a backup plan. Tsu proves that point!
So I guess this post is part rant, but also, if you were following from Tsu, don't be a stranger. The worst part of the way they closed is all the contacts that may now be lost. Many people I may never cross paths with again, that I formed great friendships with, are lost forever unless the fates should allow us to cross paths again. "Friends" being a word I never use loosely.
With that said, I was fortunate enough to also get on steemit again and linked up with a lot of you on here before the closing. If anyone wants to exchange contact info, you can use this page on my blog, http://bitcoindood.com/contact.php, or DM me on twitter https://twitter.com/BitcoinDood Also feel free to comment here.
Tsu will be missed greatly, hopefully I can make steemit my home away from home now.
