Hello Steemians!
And another show to add on the list of our reviews. A little show,I mean a show of 20 minutes episodes and not 40 like the other ones. Well, almost like every comedy show you can encounter nowadays: The Goldbergs.
The fun part of this show is that it is an autobiographic TV Show from Adam F. Goldberg. Always explaining the story from its main character: Adam Goldberg. At the end of each episode you can see a quick original part of video from Adam’s real life. To be honest I am not a big fan of these kind of show, but this one is very well done… It may looks like it is made for children, but on the contrary… It explains the life, and how it was in the 80s and it is so well done… I mean it will remind you soooooo many things!!!! You can’t watch one single episode without saying to yourself… « OH MY GOD I REMEMBER THAT THING ». Of course I am of this generation, this TV Show is designed for watcher more than 30 years old, but not for his hard content to watch or its language. No it is designed for your memories: if you are more than 30 years old, well maybe even 35, you will be laughing so hard remembering all the stupid things you did when you was a little boy. And well if you are older too, cause you will relate to these strange and funny parents they have!
It is awesome to see a world like it was at that time. The fashion at this time is HILARIOUS and you can’t stop thinking about « how ridiculous you were » because YES you were like that, wether you want it or not.
The storyline is very simple like I said, it is the narrator’s point of view, and well by the same case the producer of this TV Show’s point of view: Adam Goldberg. This little boy lives in a typical american family made of Beverly his devoted and overwhelming mother, Murray his incredibly lazy and nonchalant father, his brother Barry, the stupid one, her beautiful sister Erica and Albert Solomon, his grandfather and father of his mom.
Sean Giambrone, the genius Adam
Adam, I mean the real one and narrator was fond of movies, and started to film his entire youth via the old VHS camera recorder. And the same does his character on this TV Show. Sean is interpreting this role and he does it with a talent worth of big stars. Well for me at least! Sean is still very young and The Goldberg was his second apparition in the film and movie industry. He played his first role in I Heart Shakey as afro boy. But then we are seeing today the beginning of a future big career I think! Of course The Goldberg still is a show going on today. He is also the main character in Clarence a animated series where he does the voice of Jeff Randell a character.
He is going to have quite a big career, I would bet a coin on his future ;)
Hayley Orrantia, the smart sister
She is the big sister in this family, and I will go more rapidly on her career. Not that she does not have a big one, because on the contrary she is used to TV as she started at age 12 and…. In X factor!
Yes Hayley is a very talented singing girl! She is not devoted only to movies and TV Show but also to her singing career, I think she will be doing very well too… No need to worry :)
Troy Gentile, the incredibly stupid and lovable brother
Well, yeah… I admit, he is from FAR and VERY FAR my favorite one! He is the typical big brother… But in stupid mode on. But not stupid, just a dreaming, loving, big brother to Adam. Of course he does a lot of stupidities, but he wants to think he is the best and each time have quite a hard time realizing he is not. But you will love him, sometimes annoying but in general you will appreciate this dummy! Troy is quite young and even though has a big resume! He started his career in a movie Bad News Bear where he received a Young Artist Award! He then played in a lot of movies, Nacho Libre, Order up, Pineapple Express or Pig lady. His first big role and repetitive role in a TV Show was in The Goldberg. I really want to see more of this guy soon!
Wendi Mclendon-Covey, Beverly the obsessioned mother!
Oh why I say that kind of thing…. I have the same mother at home! Watch the show and then you will understand ;)
She is a very good actress that excels in the improvisation department! She played various roles and types of roles in a LOT of movies such as Public relations, Fully Loaded, Date and Switch or Mark Felt: The man who brought down the white house. As for her TV Show career she plays in a huge number of show, but as a recurrent character: this one.
Jeff Garlin, the father… fun
This is my second favorite character of the show, not that he is playing a very important role, but only because his reaction are so hilarious. Each and overtime he speaks you will laughs. He wants to do nothing, and nothing means nothings. He has strange and lazy attitudes and habits that makes of him an incredible funny character of this show. But not the classic comic style, but the style of making you laugh without wanting to. Jeff is a renown actor with a lot of experience in a lot of different styles. You can see him run Daddy Day Care, Sleepover, Hooked, Bounty Hunter and so on and so on.
In general, The goldberg has not to be taken in serious and you will have a good time watching it. No need to be very concise watching each and every episodes as the story behind do not have a very big importance. You want to laugh and remind you how it was when you were young, just watch it it is designed for you from the 70/80s
Cheers,
Mangou
