Yesterday was Disney Plus day and we got some new Marvel first look at their upcoming shows. But we also got official posters and just announcements of other Marvel shows coming up soon as well. It looks like there will always be a Marvel show on for the foreseeable future.
I haven't finished the first season of What if… yet, but we are getting a second one with a hint at the fact that some character might also end up in the live action MCU.
Echo is also coming to Disney Plus her character will be introduced in the Hawkeye show (who if deaf in the comics). Alaqua Cox has been cast in the role and just like the character she is Native American and Deaf. That way Marvel can compensate for a boring family man Hawkeye.
We'll also be getting an animated Spider-Man series called: Spider-Man: Freshman Year because apparently, we don't have enough Spider-Man origin stories out there.
There will also be an I Am Groot series. Which is a series of shorts of the adorable Baby Groot. The series is directed by Kirsten Lepore who is also the executive producer. She specializes in shorts so that will be interesting. Also, it will be interesting to see someone who isn't James Gunn take on the character. This is apart from the Guardians of the Galaxy charismas special that will air on Disney Plus.
Ironheart is also coming even though it appears to be a not popular character. Dominique Thorne will play Riri Williams, a teenager so smart that she can build a suit just like Iron Man's. I think that the character will be first introduced in Armor Wars series, although there are rumors that the character will first appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
We all loved Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness and now she will return to the small screen in the same role in Agatha: House of Harkness. I wonder if "house" means it will introduce her son as well. Jac Schaefer who helmed WandaVision will return to lead this show as well. I liked WandaVision, but a lot of people had a problem with Schaefer not being into the source material so I hope that Schaefer will fix that going forward.
Marvel Zombies will be an animated show that will have a new generation of heroes battling against a zombie scourge. I don't think this worked so well in What if…, but Marvel Zombies are popular in the comics so maybe they can make it work on the small screen as well.
Secret Invasion is shaping up to be super interesting and comics accurate. I know that the Skrulls were the good guys in Captain Marvel, but here, not so much. Samuel L. Jackson returns as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn returns as the Skrull Talos and together they face a new threat. Skrulls that have been infiltrating Earth for years and you know how that goes. Let's play who is a Skrull.
Plus we got our first set image of Jackson as Fury and he has a new look. No eye patch and a much more disheveled beard. Is he a Skrull? He sure looks even more dangerous like this.
X-MEN 97 is also an exciting announcement as the new animated series will simply continue the classic animated show and pick up right where it left off.
Sure Disney Plus has a lot going on, but it looks like a Marvelous future to me.
