The plot thickness. Slowly. I love this show. Sure, it is also still a silly sitcom episode, but some of the episode breaks from that format both visually and content wise. It is actually pretty brilliant.
This episode of WandaVision takes place in the 60s in a clear homage to The Brady Bunch. But welcome to "Hotel Wanda," you can check out anytime you want, but you can never leave this neighborhood. That is not sitcom, but the episode is mostly still a sitcom. Wanda is pregnant as we saw by the end of the previous episode and in the trailer. Even though it is all silly and hilarious I did get some "The Gifted" vibes when it comes to powers going haywire because of the pregnancy. Vision is very excited about being a father, sort of. He can't actually be the father, we know that, and maybe he does to. The neighborhood gets some creepy vibes in this episode. Something is not absolutely right and maybe others are also aware of that. But we just don’t know what to expect.
We also get to see the changes visually when the screen proportion change. From sitcom 4:3 ration aspect, suddenly when the illusion or fake reality or whatever that is, breaks or stops, the screen becomes a wide screen. Ordinary MCU proportions. That is our biggest clue as to what is going on so far. That and the commercial that is in this episode I think are pretty big clues. The mystery keeps building. Even though we know so many comic book plotlines that this show is leaning on, we still have no idea what is going. It is just super fun.
But don't forget to pull out your handkerchiefs. This episode has one super sad moment that sent me and all of Twitter over the edge with tears and emotions. Just to leave us shocked at the new turn of events. Wanda seems like a happy loving wife and neighbor, but I am not sure that under the perfect façade that she is that. She always did have a bit of a mean edge to her personality, but will she become a villain? Is she already the villain? We have no idea.
The mystery is still here, who is creating this fake reality? Who is in control? Did Wanda actually create all of this, or is she willingly trapped in there? We just don't know what is going on and I love it.
