The first episodes featured some nice action, but what sets this show apart (and makes it wonderful) is the storytelling. Despite having a season-long plot, this show is somewhat episodic, and the skillful writing and acting made me care about characters other than the primary ones. One particularly unexpected story was revealed in the third episode.
So a very well-known video game served as the inspiration for this show. Knowing that before entering made no impact at all because everything about it was excellent. The actors were excellent, and you can feel how gripping the dystopian atmosphere is as everything shifts from a regular society to a total nightmare.
They wasted little time getting to the real world and what happened to it after providing a brilliant explanation of how this may have happened in the introduction. Joel is currently in a position where all he cares about is attempting to put his family back together with what little strength he still has. He now has cargo to bring with him and an ally. The narrative just gets more and more fascinating from there after they unintentionally stumble into Ellie (or so it seems). Because of the way this is set up, you won't be able to see what's coming. You'll know something is going to happen but be unsure of how.
Because of the way the plot is set up, you won't be able to predict what will happen, and the show is too dynamic for you to have an entire episode to mull over it. Enjoy the ride because there are too many things occurring too quickly. I adore it so far ten out of ten.
