Last night as I was reviewing the latest scam on Steemit, which is perhaps the worst yet, because it's a phishing site which looks exactly like Steemit (hint: steemitblog needs to release a warning about this, so people are educated), I was thinking of better ways to use Twitter for Steemit adoption and encouragement. I think the best way to reduce the amount of scams is for all us to step it up a bit, and get creative about new ways to leverage our existing social media profiles to do good work in the service of others. Scammers rely on desperate people who are either uneducated or distracted. I think we can all help Steemians become more educated, so here's my first solution.....
To reward people who have recently signed up to Steemit and have written their first introduceyourself post, I created a Twitter Special. (image above: image was found somewhere on Twitter, and I cannot remember where....)
Creating interactive campaigns on Twitter that rewards people's efforts do many good things:
- Rewards people's efforts
- Creates more engagement on both platforms
- Helps newbies feel valued
- Creates more traffic to Steemit
- Makes Steemit-related tweets gain traction on Twitter
- Makes Steemit more legitimate in eyes of skeptics
- Drives organic growth of both my Steemit and Twitter profiles
- Sets example for people to follow, which is not related to vote buying desperate schemes.
Take a look at the amazing engagement that my tweet got in the span of a night, which was 17 retweets and 37 likes! This is maybe a personal record for me. And to all the whales and dolphins here on Steemit, you can do the same thing! You are encouraged to copy my idea, because you see how well this works, for everyone, including yourself! I get really excited when one of my experiments actually works to help everyone, and this one is a no-brainer.
Everyone be very careful about what Steemit site you're logging into! The phishing site that looks exactly like Steemit has claimed victims recently. If you get kicked out of Steemit, close the window and only go to a bookmarked Steemit.com site. Do not log into Steemit if you accidentally get out. See my resteemed post for details.
Thanks for everyone resteeming my recent tweet about upvoting newbies.
Stay Vigilant,
Stellabelle
