It's Sunday morning. I wake up in a great mood and to the smell of bacon, eggs, and homemade Belgian waffles. I sip my morning coffee and enjoy breakfast with my family. I even skip the Sunday morning newspaper to maintain my great mood after breakfast.
When I finish breakfast I sit on the couch digesting my food. The sun is shining outside and I'm in an incredibly good mood! I grab my laptop off the coffee table and set it in my lap. Maybe a quick check of email, then over to Peakd and Twitter to answer any replies and conversations I'm participating in. Open up Twitter, go through my notifications and find in my notifications "suggested for you" a retarded kid in a wheelchair getting his head shaved at school while his little monster classmates laugh and record it for social media. The title has something about bullying in it.
Out of curiosity, I clicked the link. I should have known better. It's human nature I guess. After 15 seconds of the video, I close it and shake my head in disgust.
I'm now furious for 2 reasons. 1) Nobody wants to see a mentally challenged child treated this way. 2) Because I clicked on that Tweet the Twitter algo will now force more "bullying" content into my feed.
I was literally just baited by Twitter to get this disturbing content into my feed regularly. Shame... Shame... Shame!
I spent a long time getting my feed in order again. I was careful to not click on such nonsense knowing how the algo works. In one moment of weakness, I've now ruined all that. Baited by Twitter so my feed is filled with more of this garbage. It's straight-up shameful and most people don't realize it's being done to them!
Social media is evil, it is the scourge of our time, and I hope people wake up to the fact that they're intentionally being manipulated and it's becoming a HUGE contributor to mental illness WORLDWIDE!
I'm close to done with Twitter. Its only purpose now is to promote the occasional Hive post! I really hope things change if Elon takes over the platform because, at one time, I did find Twitter to be a lot of fun. Now, all it does is manipulate my emotions and force the latest state-approved narratives down my throat! Just shameful!
Thank god for Hive.
Sorry, but I had to vent. The more I thought about how the algo works and how I was just baited.... It really set me off.
Now I'm going to get on the motorcycle take a long ride and try to forget all this nasty business. Shame on you Twitter!
