In my previous post I promised to show you my favourite way of using this portable projector, the Yoton Y3. Well, here it is. I use it with my Amazon Fire Stick. It's the gateway to Amazon's Prime videos, as well as other platforms like Netflix, Apple TV, Disney+, and even terrestrial channels like ITV and BBC (in the UK). I have never watched the BBC on it by the way, just Netflix and Amazon.

Not only does this portable projector play video streams from the Firestick, it also powers it via the USB input. It wasn't meant for that, but since USB carries power (which is how USB sticks can work ) the power is enough to power something like an Amazon Firestick which is a solid state device with no moving parts - just like any flash drive or memory card.

I haven't done it yet, but I will be taking the device on holidays along with my Firestick. It's small enough to fit in a hand luggage. Mind you most hotels come with large TVs that accept the Firestick anyway, so not sure it's actually needed for that purpose :)

I could also plug my smartphone in and mirror it via the projector. The experience is so much better with the Firestick though. Besides, I don't have Netflix installed on my phone. I'm also a fan of dedicated devices as they often do the job a lot better than do-it-alls like the iPhone.
