I was intending to clean out my shed on the allotment a couple of weeks back but on opening it up I noticed this fat wasps nest!
It's a beautiful thing in fairness, but it was getting in the way of my task in hand - tidying the shed.
So I pottered around doing other things instead and a few days later came back and attempted to get rid of it (the wasps were rather aggressive).
I came equipped with this nasty stuff...
So I foamed it up and then punched a little hole in it and legged it!
On the way out I showed the photo to someone else on the allotment and they made me feel a little guilty about taking it down, and in retrospect I kind of wish I'd just left it there.
Anyway I returned a few days later to a few dead wasps, but lo and behold I'd TOTALLY FAILED to end the wasp problem...
Some of the fuckers had just refused to die and started to rebuild it...
So live and let live
In fairness it wasn't a total fail, the wasps are fewer and a lot less aggressive, but I figure they're probably eating some nasties on the plot and given their persistence I'm just gonna let them be now they've toned it down.
I've also since learned that if you leave an old nest up other wasps won't come to it, so I think I'll just monitor this and hope they're gone in a few weeks, which they probably will be, wasp season is relatively short after all!
