The Jakarta Attorney General's Office (Kejati) DKI has devolved alleged cases of embezzlement and fraudulent leasing of aircraft over the suspect of the Chairman of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Sapto Kashariyanto, to court. Sapto immediately went to trial.
"It was delegated to the South Jakarta District Court on October 2, 2018," DKI Jakarta Prosecutor's Office of Legal Information Section (Kasipenkum) Section Chief of Legal Information, via his statement on Tuesday (10/09/2018).
The first trial is scheduled for next week. The chairman of the panel of judges who will preside over the hearing has also been determined.
"First trial day, October 17, 2018. Chairperson of the Assembly, Irwan. Paniter Substitute Matthew," said Nirwan.
The alleged fraud case began when the reporter named Geminiantoro Raharjo collaborated with Sapto regarding the flight lease around 2016. In the initial agreement, Sapto requested Rp. 1 billion to hold the aircraft.
"The embezzlement related to the leasing of airplanes to the reporter is already Mou with the suspect, the rent of the plane. Eventually he (agreed) the price of Rp. 1 billion. Then the agreement was made Rp. 1 billion. Thursday (9/21).
However, until a year later, the items ordered did not come. Sapto actually asked for money back to Geminiantoro for Rp 200 million.
Because the agreement had expired and the goods did not come, Geminiantoro finally reported Sapto to the Metro Jaya Regional Police. He was charged under Articles 372 and 378 of the Criminal Code.
Separately, Geminiantoro's attorney, Gilbert Marciano Tulaar, said his client felt cheated by Sapto. According to Gilbert, Sapto tried several times to convince his client, but the promised plane never came.
"The plane never came. Cargo planes. Until finally our clients did the reporting, a two-year period. The plane did not arrive. Until our client was taken to Manila, it was assured that the plane was in Manila. Our client flew there but the plane was not there. Then promised to coming soon, until finally our client took legal steps, to do a report to the Jakarta Metro Police, "he said.
