The Ijebu Girl
Everyone knew Kanyinsola to be a troublesome girl. Despite the fact that she was female, she seemed to thrive in places where there was trouble. There was this one time where she ran through the streets shouting "Boko Haram! Boko Haram!!", causing mayhem as the good people of Ode remo began to run for their life. 2 hours after the ruckus, people began to creep out of their hiding places to discover that they had been played. Which was made obvious by the fact that Kayinsola was sprawled on the floor, quaking in fits of laughter.
The humiliated and very much angry people of Ijebu Ode resolved to teach kayinsola a lesson. They erected a sigidi in the middle of the town square. A sigidi is a clay statue that is covered in gluey substance.
Eventually, Kayinsola tried her trick again and got the market people running for their lives. All except one. She approached it and demanded :
"Why are you not running away like everyone else?"
No reply
"Are you deaf? I'm talking to you!"
Still No reply
"I am warning you now, if you don't answer me I will slap you"
Yet no reply
Infuriated, Kayinsola slapped the statue and her right hand got stuck, glued to the statue. She pulled and pulled but the statue didn't budge.
"If you don't release my right hand, I will slap you harder with my left"
Yet no reply
Kanyinsola slapped the Sigidi with her left hand and it also got stuck. The process went on till bother hands and feet were stuck to the Sigidi.
The villagers them came out from where they pretend-hid. Kayinsola was hysterical by now, crying and begging people to help her. But the villagers refused and Kayinsola was left there to suffer for her misdeeds.
