Adolescents of Teluk Pauh Village, Pangean District, Kuantan Singingi Regency, were almost killed by crocodiles in the Batang Kuantan River. The teenager named Ali Suhadi (14) had a bite wound on his right thigh.
"The victim's wound has been sewn by the local health center, there are 3 stitches on the right side of the victim," said Chief of Police Kuantan Singingi AKBP Fibri Karpiananto to reporters, Saturday (6/10). Fibri recounted, initially the victim left alone from his house to Batang Sungai Kuantan is not far from his house to take an afternoon shower on Thursday (4/10). When the bathing victim cleansed his body, at 6:15 a.m., suddenly a crocodile bit the victim in the upper right leg or thigh.
"The victim was shocked and tried to free himself from the bite of a wild animal. A friend of the victim named Adi (15) at the same time was about to take a bath to see the victim then shouted for help from the surrounding residents," said Fibri.
Hearing that shout, the people immediately came to help. Residents went straight to the river and drove out the predator.
"The arrival of residents made the crocodile release its bite and dive into the Kuantan stem river. The victim survived the attack of crocodiles," said Fibri.
Then the residents took the victim away from the river. After going ashore, bite marks were found on the victim's feet. Then the victim was taken to the Pangean Health Center for treatment.
"The victim was at home after receiving medical treatment from the Pangean Health Center," said the 1998 AKPOL Alumni.
According to witnesses, it turns out that the sharp-toothed carnivores in the past 1 month have often attacked communities around the river.
"There were 3 crocodile attacks on residents with the same location. We immediately coordinated with the BBKSDA to follow up on the existence of crocodiles that were troubling the community," said Fibri.
