Okay... so when I say 1 month, I mean 4 weeks to the day - rather than 1 month to the date, as that would be Sunday. But hey, who's counting here? I wanted to do a little round-up post of some of the amazingly awesomly moon-landingly brilliant things that have happened for me since I started here.
Being Scooped Up By The Welcome Wagon
Yup, I was lucky enough to be taken under the wing of the lovely team at the
. These guys literally circle their wagons around you, help and support you with the practical bits and pieces of using Steemit - from posting to markdown to commenting to... well anything and everything.
They also introduce you to all sorts of amazing opportunities - both here and over on Discord. I swear, as soon as these guys took me on, I became part of a loving and wide community, with my WW family of ,
and
right at the heart of it. Please fo follow them and support their work - they're going to make such a difference to quality, engagement and retention here on Steemit... and... well... I love them!
Finding Steemit Ramble on Discord
Have you guys met
yet? If not- go and meet her, she is absolutely amazing. She describes herself as a manual curator, reader, writer, not so crazy cat staffer. A mine of wisdom, Shadows is incredibly kind and welcoming, and runs the Steemit Ramble server over on Discord... which I have come to see as a kind of second home.
My Welcome Wagon family introduced me to the Ramble, in particular the Pimp Your Post Thursday shows on... you guessed it... Thursdays! You join their text and voice channel, wait your turn and get to present your best post to the others. It's the perfect way to discover new, brilliant Steemians to stalk support, as well as introduce yourself to them.
Please bare in mind, I am not brave. I was soooo nervous, but the whole group were incredibly kind, welcoming and supportive, and even helped me trouble-shoot the tech in advance so that I could take part. They helped me climb out of my compost bin of fear. I have a lot of love for these wonderful people for helping me re-discover my brave side. There are lots of other great shows there- including Curation Corner, Creatives Coffee Hour and many more - I really recommend you finding out more!
Ulogs Baby!!!
I have to say, this was one of the first tags that I was drawn to when I arrived on Steemit. See, I'm naturally incredibly nosy... so the chance to read all these daily snapshots of life from around the globe was heaven.
Little did I know at the start that the whole movement was being driven by Our Boy Terry, Sir
himself- someone I have come to look up to for his vision and drive mixed with warmth and kindness to everyone. His dream for Ulog is huge. It's a means to combat piracy by placing every individual Steemian right at the heart of their content... making them a celebrity, and us their true fans. I love it.
Something else ulogs has given me is the chance to re-claim my silly side. I was getting far too caught up in adulting, when along came the opportunity of a lifetime... to impersonate a yawning giraffe all in the name of ulogs. Again, I was out of my comfort zone, learning to be in front of a camera, and I loved it. I have been called funny- not an honour I've ever had before- and had the chance to meet even more amazing people. The level of support has been overwhelming. These seemingly small things have allowed me to re-discover my silly, brave side... and now... the adulting has stopped, I'm pleased to say.
That's All Folks
I was going to give you a grand list of some of the wonderful peopleI've discovered this month, but I have meandered on quite long enough and I should imagine you're all desperate for a snooze, so I shall save that for another post.
In the meantime, I'd like to set you all a challenge (what? I've been challenged a lot this month - and it has done me good- your turn!) This is your challenge. Go and do something on Steemit this weekend which is out of your comfort zone. Whether it's karaoke, filming, poetry, engaging or joining a new discord group - do it!! And then come and tell me all about it.
See you soon, and thank you for everything
