Hello and how are you my dear Steemians? Sharing this passion towards a healthy environment for a clean resort city, Lapu-lapu City.
This is our third time of the same task this year for a three-hour coastal clean-up by all the government employees as mandated by our city mayor. But this is the first time that students from grade 9 to grade 12 are advised to join.
We had our assembly time at 6 A.M. and expected to end until 9 A.M. It was started by a short program to define what the activity is for and also to educate the audience why and how to maintain a clean city all throughout
Right after the program, me and my grade 9 students went down to the mangrooves area where trashes were expected to be trapped, that time high tide started and water level was already on half of our legs.
Unlike during our first and second clean- up where sacks of garbages were collected, this time my class only have a half sack, we prepared 5 sacks but never used. We teachers were happy because this is a manifestation that the community responded to the proper disposal of garbages, the fact there is a schedule for the garbage collection in every barangay, the only thing to do is to segregate biodegradable, non-biodegradable and hazardous wastes. Thinking that a lot of families whom their children are also our students, at least we are now aware that education plays a role in this cleanliness drive.
The entire area of the shoreline near Mactan Shrine was totally cleaned after an hour, so with the target three hours we were happy to take selfies as my students requested.
Calling the community to please dispose our trashes properly.
Next coastal clean-up when the shoreline is already clear, we can have our swimming instead.
