Hello Steemians, today our city of Lapu-lapu, Philippines is celebrating for the Battle of Mactan or the so-called Kadaugan sa Mactan in our local dialect. I had a blog for this last year but decided now to be a part of my #ulog post as one of my early activity today.
Going back to my country's history, it was March 16, 1521 when Magellan and his men arrived in the Philippines introducing Christianity. He was able to conquer those neighboring provinces for more than a month of their stay until this date when our national hero Lapu-lapu speared him to death.
Yes, Christianity had influenced our faith to God, to think the celebration was started by a holy mass of a Roman Catholic religion where government employees and other volunteers attended.
After the mass was the solemn raising of our national flag. After which we took pictures of my colleagues in our branding shirt attire.
I highly appreciated the motivation of Lapu-lapu being the leader of the island to fight against invaders. The fact that he didn't had that formal education yet his heart and mind pushed him to protect all the residents and the island itself where they lived peacefully as one community.
Likewise today when a lot of foreign leaders are longing to own the Spratly Island of the Philippines that in sometimes I can think like Lapu-lapu to kill all them. Good thing I don't have the skill to kill a person, I even afraid of blood when I buy pork in the market. That's the reason that I don't have a military career but I remain in the teaching profession where I can teach my young audience to have courage to exercise their rights and even kill those unjust individuals if needed.
