"Have you seen an insect as big as this?!"
Sunday afternoon, as I go upstairs at a restaurant to buy some take-out foods, my attention caught by this rare big insect on the white wall. I hurriedly get my mobile phone inside my sling bag and take a quick photo of it.
As I wonder, I make a research on the internet and found out that the big insect I saw was called "Mariposa" which is a Spanish word for a big female butterfly/moth. It is one of the largest species of butterflies in the world and scientifically called "Atlas Moth" or "Attacus Atlas" that can be kept by insect enthusiasts. Originally this species is from South-East Asia.
Butterflies/Moths represents many things, including transformation, creativity, spiritual rebirth, boundless potential, joy and the ability to experience the wondrous nature of life.
Thinking about this kind of rare insect that is surely a wonderful creation of God, I can't explain how I feel seeing it for the very first time. For me, I think it is a message from heavens above that somehow in life there's always a new hope and a new beginning in everyone's journey. Like the transformation, from a caterpillar that crawls on the ground to a beautiful, almost ethereal creature that flies through the air.
