As rice paddies surround the hospital from the main road, from each window of the hospital will be rice fields, mostly to the East straight to the mountains. There is a noticeable path in the middle, how near it is to the hospital was the adventure i drag my sister into the other day. As our day's highlights were the single hour in the morning and in the afternoon to visit our mom in the Intensive Care Unit, so most of our time were spent in the waiting room.
Well, walking is a great exercise and it's what am fond of to do in London, rain or shine. As for Filipinos in the country, we only walk when it is a necessity. It's not a favorite pastime for some. I wonder why because, exept in extreme cases where the heat of the sun is unbearable, the Philippines have great places to go waking or hiking. The beauty of this country is very much unappreciated, especially our countryside.
I just don't mean the touristic islands, but a lot of local and open spaces, like the fields for instance. I mean our farmers go there almost everyday, even with ongoing typhoons. But for us non-farmers?
There is a raw beauty out there, calling out to be discovered. But then, it all depends upon the beholders. What do you see?
These are just farm animals grazing along the path, anyone can do these so long as they can't reach the rice paddies. Interestingly, let me show you what they eat.
I saw some ripe ones being sold in Waitrose in London before, even my cousin was eating it in London. But in the Philippines, we don't know that they are edible to consume except those guys. As a child, we tend to gather these plants too from our neighbouring farms to feed the hogs.
Can be just cultural differences or different groups in utilisation of a normal flora. IT's FOOD.
Moving on with our walk
Noticeable along the path is a very long concrete irrigation canal. I am assuming that it's being utilised by every plot as everywhere seem to be well irrigated, not forgetting that we are in the middle of wet and typhoon season. We just hope that these paddies will reach the harvest season, and not be destroyed from those numerable typhoons that the Philippines have, year after year.
The building to the right is the out-patient department of the hospital.
Where my mom right now is the best private hospital in the province. We are very hopeful as the days passed. Thank you for your support. We will bring her home the soonest.
