Hey Steemians and Uloggers,
I hope your week has been good and the weekend is treating you even better! It's been one of those challenging weeks for me, but hey, what is life without challenges!! Fighting the flu and allergies, whilst dealing with special clients kind of teaches you to take a minute, breath, put things into perspective and let go of what you can't possibly control! Here's how it all went down and what I've learnt!
Part One:
Hay Fever Is At an All-Time High as Cape Town Experiences the Highest Pollen Cont in Years This Week!
The verdict is in! Rhinitis, more commonly known as Hay Fever - the pollen allergy - is attacking the Mother City with all it's got! Residents are up in arms and countering this condition with their drug of choice!
I, on the other hand, am with child, as they say, so the good drugs are off limits to me! Lucky residents are resorting to cortisone shots, while I have to settle for a mild antihistamine. The syndrome has now has me by the balls as it has escalated to flu-like symptoms, resulting in congestion, mild fevers and fits of coughs! As pleasant as this sounds, I resorted to natural remedies to speed up the process.
Enter Samahan Tea
Made from 14 herbs and spices, this Sri Lankan remedy is supposed to be the cure for all Cold, Flu, and Allergy Symptoms. My sister-in-law just came back from Sri Lanka a few days ago bringing gifts of tea!! So I give it a go a brew my first cup!
Let's be honest, it looks a bit like camel piss. And tastes a bit like what I would expect it to taste like, with a ginger undertone!!
None the less, I drink it, hoping the coughing fits will cease, I don't think its working though... but I can't take any traditional meds as it might harm the kid, so I let go of what I know and put my trust in nature. Sometime's we have to let things run their course!
Part 2
Confucious Say: "You Can't Get Angry With Stupid When Stupid Anger's You!"*
*Not really a confucios quote, just me trying to sound like an intellectual. Did it work?
Between the mess I was (and still kind of am) due to the hay fever epidemic, I committed a cardinal sin. I try to reason with an illogical human being, lost my cool and retaliated by matching their screams and anger with my own!
Long story short, when you do that, said illogical humans go into power play mode and you just dig the hole deeper than you it needs to be. Not because you want to, but because sometimes people cannot let go, like a dog with a bone.
So what do you do? You take the high road. You learn to pick your battles, and you learn to let go. Let go of the negative energy, the petty vibes and limit contact with said irrational person so (if it's impossible to let go of them altogether) and just let it go. Sometimes, sanity is more important than winning! In fact, the fact that you can walk away from an exhausting situation with your sanity intact is a victory in its own right!
Life's too short, be happy, let go...
Have a good day and laugh every chance you get!
