The Ministry of Agriculture claims that the data on rice production that it uses is the result of processing by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) with the Food Crop Information System (SIM-TP). Then, the data is synchronized in the meeting discussion of Prediction Figures (Aramaic), Temporary Figures (Asem), and Fixed Numbers (Roof).
According to the Head of the Agricultural Data and Information Center, Ministry of Agriculture Ketut Kariyasa, his party holds the principle of one data map, and is not authorized to issue data unilaterally. Therefore, the discussion meeting was attended by all representatives of the Provincial BPS, the Center, including the Dinas.
"Although, since 2015, BPS has stated that it no longer releases data on rice production, BPS remains the legitimate institution issuing Prediction Figures (Aram) based on the results of the BPS coordination meeting with the Ministry of Agriculture," he explained through an official statement received by reporters on Thursday (20/9).
As a ministry that is given the responsibility to assist President Joko Widodo in agricultural matters, he asserted that the Ministry of Agriculture has data backs.
In fact, the ministry relies on structures ranging from village level, farmer partners, and so on to collect data on harvest area and planting area.
"Ministry of Agriculture also has images of Landsat satellites, raw data from Landsat imagery processed by the Center for Agricultural Land Resources. At the Data and Information Center, data is disseminated and can be viewed through the website," Ketut added.
He revealed that the production data collection method did not change before and after 2016.
"Stay guided by the standards agreed upon between BPS and the Ministry of Agriculture," he explained.
Last night, Wednesday (19/9), Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution pointed to the Ministry of Agriculture's data as a base for a polemic on rice imports between the State Logistics Agency and the Ministry of Trade. The Ministry of Agriculture production data is often missed.
