After 2 weeks of cold and rain, the sun is back. I'm happy, the garden is happy. Question is... will there be enough time left for everything to grow and ripe before fall sets in?
Surprises
Even though I've been in a lot of pain these last 2 weeks, I visit my garden daily. It has been a slow year, but it seems the garden has plans to make up for that. My 2 melon plants have been growing beautifully, but I had kind of given of hope: I didn't expect them to start growing fruits anymore.
It wasn't until about 10 days ago that I spotted the little melons you can see in the picture above. Aren't they the cutest??The fun part is that you can almost literally séé them grow; every day, they're a little bigger than the day before.
Now, of course, I wouldn't be me if I would have labeled them correctly. I know one of them is a pineapple melon. The other one? Your guess is as good as mine, lol.
Not that it is of any importance... I love garden surprises!!
Time
I do hope life will give me the chance to find out how they taste. To grow big and strong, they need a lot more sunshine and heat. Unfortunately, if there's one thing we can't rely on in our little country, it's the weather. For the next couple of days, it seems a lot of sun is coming our way - but we might just as well go back to the same weather we experienced in the last two weeks: clouds, cold and rain that seems to never end.
I guess I just need to keep my fingers crossed...
