These are the sweet apples from the village near Kyustendil. Every summer we visit my husband's grandparents house to attend the yearly feast celebration in the village. His uncle and aunt (both retired) stay there for few months to take care of the house and the garden. They have a huge garden full of vegetables and fruits, including these apples.
Whenever there are leftover apples, we would ask Mamo to make a nice and delicious apple cake.
These apples are one of the sweetest apples I've ever tasted, not only that they are sweet but also crunchy. You can pick some of them from the ground. One tree can produce plenty of apples, the whole neighborhood can have a supply for the whole summer:) you will never run out anyway because they exchange fruits and vegetables with each other. If you live in a small village, it's like you are living together, everybody treats each other like a family, everybody knows each other. Helping and sharing is a part of their every day lives.
