My First Ulog: Putting the Spotlight to My Parents in Celebration of their 40th Wedding Anniversary!

I have been away from Steemit for about a week. I missed it. Really. And there are a lot of things that I missed, especially that 2nd Discord talk show of Sir Terry Hive account@surpassinggoogle. Aside from that Discord talk show, I felt so left behind, like what was this ulog all about? Thankfully, it does not need a rocket-scientist to figure out what it is.

So, here I am, gonna post my first #ulog. Yey! I will be a celebrity!

But on second thought, allow me to make my very first #ulog not for me, but for my parents. Yes, my first #ulog is for my dear MOM and DAD.

I want them to be the celebrity, and I, their fan.

I want them to own the spotlight in my very first #ulog. It is their 40th wedding anniversary anyway.

So yes, I am dedicating this #ulog for them.

Unplanned Plan

We planned to have a simple dinner at a local restaurant, Mang Peping's to treat our parents. It was our way of saying "thank you" and showing our LOVE for them on their special day as couples.

But too bad, the restaurant we planned to go to was closed, out of all the days it will be closed. Well, the timing was just not right I guess. But we are not to give up, and so we looked for another restaurant. This time we went to this restaurant we have never been to. It was an adventure sort of way, and it was exciting.

Food was great, mom and dad loved it, as it houses authentic Ilocano cuisine.

Sweet Cake plus Sweet Words for Dessert

After eating, it was high time to give out the cards especially hand-made and written by their grandkids. We, me with my husband and Hive account@juwel with Hive account@joonz are the proud parents since it was a surprise to us as well what was written on it - touching WORDS OF LOVE.

The red card was my nephew's, Hive account@juwel and Hive account@joons' son. You can read about his card here.

The colorful card was my little one's. Ask why the heart she drew was colorful, she said it was because her "Mamamia and Papado lives a colorful life." She even wrote that she hopes they will love each other together forever and protect each other.

My mom was rather silent the whole time. I know, behind her eyeglasses, she was masking a teary-eye. She was touched by the simple act of love of making the effort to make a card plus the messages of love of the kids. Really Hive account@teardrops moment.

Then time to have dessert. We bought a cake at Red Ribbon. Black Forest was my Dad's favorite. See his smile?

The night went by so fast. But it was a lovely night.

Anniversaya indeed!

It left a positive spot on me that inspite and despite challenges they may have endured through all those years - those 40 years of being together - they have surpassed it all.

I could say they have been successful in their marriage life, in their family life and it was just inspiring to see them still in love and happily together. I sure look forward to their Golden Anniversary. That'll only be 10 years from now. And I sure hope and pray to God that me and Hive account@islaw will experience the same joy my parents are experiencing.
