At the last supper, Our Lord Jesus spoke to his beloved disciples about the promise of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Holy Trinity. Jesus knew that he was going to ascend to heaven to reunite himself with the Father after his crucifixion and he wanted to prepare his disciples for what they would face after his physical departure.
The holy spirit is considered by all Christians as the doctor par excellence of the Church, but the disciples at the last supper with Jesus had not received the Spirit, nor did they know him, and they were in an intermediate state between good and evil.
That is why Jesus instructed his disciples in one of the greatest mysteries of Christian revelation, because to know the holy spirit is to perceive with the mind the truth itself; and the truth is related to a very important spiritual blessing, the communion, the spiritual unity of minds and hearts.
For this reason, Jesus directed to his disciples a teaching about the unity and the spiritual truth through the Holy Spirit, something that would later be fulfilled at Pentecost, the day of the birth of the Church:
"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you" John 14:15-20.
With this, Jesus anticipated that communion, that life in common, perfected by the Spirit, a communion where there is no "this is yours or this is mine" but "everything belongs to everyone". In the doctrine of the Kingdom of God, the dominion or empire of God's perfections, the communion that is born of truth and unity is also the correct or ethical order of society, or in other words, how God wants men to live.
