The mountain and its streams always give water to the rivers and the ocean. The relationship is not reciprocal yet the mountain seems never to run out of water to give.
This non-symbiotic relationship is what Jesus was teaching His disciples. To help the poor, the weak, and those who are in need.
The kind of people that may never return the kindness you afford to give to them.
But just like the mountain, it will never get anything back from the ocean and rivers. It receives its rewards from heaven as the rain fall and fill its basins and lakes.
We are encouraged to give than to receive. Believe it or not, the joy and happiness are ten-fold than receiving.
Open your generous heart today to someone in need.
"In everything I have pointed out to you [by example] that, by working diligently in this manner, we ought to assist the weak, being mindful of the words of the Lord Jesus, how He Himself said, It is more blessed (makes one happier and more to be envied) to give than to receive."
