I have been busy since my last post
I don't know how 9 months have gone by since I have posted but it has. I did misplace my keys when I got a new computer, and it wasn't really that I misplaced them, it is I have way to many files and couldn't remember which file I placed them in, but finally found them. When you find your keys you have misplaced it is a wonderful feeling especially when there is all the censorship going in. I don't care who I like or dislike, they have the right to say what is on their mind even if it offends me or you. So I am dropping links to the blockchain like crazy to every site I respect. It isn't about left or right or political parties this is about Freedom of Speech and no one has the right to stifle it.
What I have been up to over the last 9 months
My husband recovered from CoVid in April we finally got him tested and treated with HCQ and a Z-pack, he has been having lingering health issues due to having CoVid and they don't know how to fix it or why he is having issues still. Mainly he has been having chest pains since having CoVid but we are told his heart and lungs are fine. But it isn't, so we have been focusing on making sure I have what I need to make sure I can survive if something were to happen to him. One of those things is making sure I can work year round. I am a photographer and up till this year I only did location photography as many don't want their pictures taken outside when it is below 30 degrees and that is pretty much from November to April most years.
So I spend a few months taking an Amish Shed
I had customized with a house door and two windows. It isn't huge as it is only a 10x20 building or 200 sq ft without the loft area. But it is a prefect size for me. My clients also love it. They think it is cute and quaint. I love it because it gives me a place to work out of year round. I lost a lot of work through out the years not having a studio space. I didn't realize how much till I got my studio completed on how much business I was losing.
On demand power
I did the size I did for 2 reason. One if I did a building under 200 sq ft I didn't need a permit to build. But I also had to have on demand power aka an RV or Marine shore power Hook up. It saved me over 15% on the cost of the building as I didn't have to have the inspections and have to pay permit fees, it also allows me to move my building with me if we ever decide to sell our property I can take my studio right along with me. The downside is the extension cord was the most expensive piece of the build after the shell of the building. I needed one about 63 feet long but they only come in 50 ft sizes and 25 ft sizes for the marine shore ones. My inlet to the building is a marine shore so I had to get a 25 ft cord and a 50 ft cord just to have the power I need. The total cost just for those extension cords is over $400 with tax. The insulation was the next most expensive thing and only ran $240 after tax.
Once I completed the studio in October
I rebranded and had a Re-Grand Opening. And things got busy for me. As November I started the Christmas photos and between the mini sessions I did and the Santa sessions I did I got so busy I was looking for to Christmas hitting so I could have a break. Over the last two weeks or so things have been slow and I been into my files looking for my keys and this morning I am so happy I found them.
This month my daughter has been creating Art for my studio for me
In the dressing room of my studio is my breaker box. It was ugly gray and I wanted it to look like art. So my youngest daughter while on an extended break from Purdue came home and so far has spent 16 hours creating this for me. She isn't 100% sure if it is done or not and may add something else to it in the coming days before she seals it with a clear coat. But I love it the way it is if she does decide it is done. My kid is talented IMHO and I am excited to get to see this on the days I have work.
