Last month, I started a campaign: Be A Mentor Program Initiative - A Service to the Newbies.
In that post, I highlighted the following objectives of the importance of starting Be A Mentor Program Initiative:
1. Great Need on Steem 2019
2. The Value of a Mentor to the Newbie
3. Value a Mentor to Steem Blockchain
4. How To Run This "Be A Mentor" Program
5. Role of a successful Mentor come in 4 stages
6. Duration of the Mentorship Program - One Month
7. Mentors - Passion & Commitment
The Campaign did not get accepted because it lacks a Business Model.
- In the past month, I started running the Mentorship program to try out the program and we had great success.
- With this experience, I can now propose a true Business Model for this Be A Mentor Program Initiative.
- This is the reason why there is a delay in this campaign post because I want to test the Business model to make sure it is profitable and self-sustainable.

Business Plan for Be A Mentor Program
Having organized and proceeded with the mentorship program for the past month with its success, we can now consider several options to make this project profitable and self sustainable.
The entire objective is to help the Steem communities, especially the DApp communities. We now have over 50 DApps and with more being produced every month. So you can see how big this project will become! We want to reach out to all 50 DApp communities.
- By recruiting Mentors for the different DApps, the qualified Mentors with the skills to welcome the newbies and mentor them to using the DApp effectively right away. This is the motivation behind the entire business plan.
- The entire business plan is to help the DApps communities to grow with the right mentors guiding newbies in the monthly program.
- We are working for the DApps for a common goal to build up a engaging community on Steem.
Here are the Specific Details:
1. The Monthly Program - Service to the newbies
We want to provide this service to the newbies when they come in on the first month on Steem. We will reach out to them personally so that they can quickly join one of the DApp community. In this way, they will not be lost and can get engaged into a community in the first month.
2. Monthly Mentors Recruitment
We want to support each mentor that goes out to reach out to these mentors. We want to build up the mentors month by month. Last month, when we started, we managed to build up 6 successful Mentors. So we can foresee that it will take time to build up more and more mentors as the months go on for each DApp.
The desired goal is to build up 10 Mentors each month for the different DApps.
We do not have the finances to start with all the DApps, so last month we began with the Partiko app and experimented the program which proved to be a great success.
Our aim is to start mentorship program slowly one by one as we work with the different owners of the DApps.
3. Give Support to the Mentors
Without funds, we can only ask the project owners of the DApp to reward the mentors. This is slow moving but at least, it is a start. This is exactly what we did with the Partiko Mentorship Program Round 1 in February, 2019.
From our experience in the past month, we recruited the finest Steem users to be Partiko Mentors in February, 2019. You can see the hardwork that they have provided in this service to the Newbies in February.
4. The Mentorship Program started in February 2019 - Proved to be Profitable and self sustainable
Even without funds, we acted on our mission to mentor the newbies in February. This means that we all worked hard using our own time and energy to make the mentorship program a success for the Steem community.
You can read about the self sustainable mentoring program in the following posts:
The following posts will give you a good idea of the steps that we took to make this project profitable already:

So we truly believe in our project and invested our time and energy from our own pocket.
5. Mentorship Program - Great Value to Community and need SP Delegation
As you can see, we have stepped out to start the program already. It is not all talks but actual work done already!
The whole objective is to enhance DApp communities and help DApp communities grow with good engagement.
This potential delegation will be used mainly to support the mentors, the team in recruiting the mentors, users who come on board because of the mentoring program, extending the project into a website service.
We also want to use the SP Delegation to encourage postings by our mentors and mentees, curation, powering up to help mentors and newbies users.
6. Business Detailed Plan for 2019
Januray, 2019
- Started contacting different DApp owners about the mentorship program.
February, 2019
- The first DApp to start the Mentorship program: Partiko
- Partiko Mentorship Program Round 1 started already with great success! It began on January 20, 2019 and ended on February 25, 2019. The project proved to be profitable for the community and self-sustainable.
March, 2019
- Partiko Mentorship Program Round 2 will start in March! Will continue to build up more mentors for the Partiko community to keep the great momentum going.
April, 2019
- Set up team members to recruit mentors. Announcement will be made for this project. For those who participated and have worked through the program, you can give your feedback in the comment below.
- Partiko Mentorship Program Round 3 can continue.
May to June, 2019
- Extend the mentorship program to other DApps and start monthly mentorship program with them. Like all initiatives, project owners need to see the success of how the mentorship program is run before they will commit to this program. So when we have the results for 3 months, we can then extend the mentorship easily to other DApps in a much quicker pace.
Q3 of 2019 - July, August, September
With this new project, part of the SP delegation will serve as leverage to fund in building a website, development of team members, recruiting qualified mentors, building up the reputation of mentors, support new users a team.
Once the website is built, we can direct the newbies to the website to choose the DApp they want to learn. The website will have the qualified mentors available for those specific DApps so that the new users can start learning from the mentors.
This will require 3 months for us to test everything out on the website as we create videos of the DApps and by then, we will have 'trained' available mentors to help the newbies. We will need to pay the mentors for being there and guiding the newbies for that month.
Q4 of 2019 - October, November, December
When more mentoring programs are run for different DApps, we will be able to start some marketing campaigns in which we can recruit more team members and qualified mentors on board.
The marketing campaign will be done through the Steem community and the DApps communities.
We then want to extend the marketing campaign to other social media platforms to recruit newcomers onto Steem.
The Mentoring Teams:
Right now, I am the person in charge of the Mentoring Program.
As people watch the growth and success of this Mentoring Program, I will definitely build up more team members to help the Mentorship program grow from strength to strength.
Thank you for your attention,
Rosa
