Dear fellow Steemers,
I've been on this platform on and off for over a year now, and I've tried different approaches. Writing about what I like, posting pictures I took, even publishing intimate details because of the anonymity and just because I could.
The last three posts started to accompany my world travelling, but I don't really like to just put pictures up. It seems boring, so I'm starting fresh. (Not really fresh, cause the blockchain doesn't forget, but still, I'm trying here!)
Nearly a year ago I made a thoughtgame: What if I had five million euros? What would I do? The answer was quite elaborate. I would buy three apartements in three cities I liked very much and had friends in. I would do three different styles of interior - each fitting to the city, but still being me. Then I would by an apartementbuilding and renting it out sociably, while still earning money with it (yes, even 5 million euros end at some point...) And then I would start travelling. I always wanted to travel, so that wasn't surprising. But I felt something missing. I needed something to do while travelling - and then the idea struck me: I want to paint!
I tried it before, you can even find some of my scribbles in earlier posts. But this idea in the thoughtgame was very revealing for me. I didn't need to have 5 million euros to sketch!
So nearly a year later I am travelling the world (no, I don't have 5 million euros...) and rather than posting pictures I will draw sketches of everything around me, that I find interesting or beautiful.
Please bear with me - no one ever told me, that I could paint. I just love the process of doing it. Rather than running from on sightseeing spot to the next, I just wander around the cities, sit down and sketch whenever I want to. You could call it slowtravel, as I, from now on, will stay for a longer period at one place, I like to call it "enjoying live".
And maybe, just maybe, I will get better at sketching, and maybe, just maybe, you will like my sketches and will give me an upvote, or even a share and a little trickle of money could flow into my travelpurse. That would be amazing.
But more important is, that I actually draw and that I enjoy it. And if you enjoy it, too, even better!!
So, here it is: My first sketch in Tokyo, Japan:
In the part of town called Shirokanedai I opted out of going into the museum and rather spent some time in the museum shop. There I bought this amazing little block of paper. And then outside of the park of the museum, I just sat down and began to draw the building you see in the background. Just as luck would have it, a woman in a kimono walked through my view and I immediately got out my camera, to capture the moment, so I could draw her into my sketch. I am not fast enough yet, to do it without :)
This one is just done with a fineliner. Later you will get some colours, too as I upgraded my equipment!
