Terms of Service
Overview
Ureka is a decentralized, open-source interface for the Hive blockchain. It does not host its own content or user data.
Ureka merely displays content that already exists on the Hive blockchain — a public, decentralized and immutable network.
By using the Ureka website, you agree to the following terms:
1. No User Accounts
Ureka does not operate a login system or maintain any user database. Any "login" functionality is handled by third-party Hive authentication tools (e.g., Hive Keychain). Ureka does not have access to your credentials or private keys.
Ownership of your own data and account is a built-in feature of the Hive blockchain. Hive Keychain is required to use Ureka and it is not maintained or controlled by Ureka. Hive Keychain is designed to ensure that you can interact with the Hive blockchain without exposing your account keys to anyone else. For updates on the Hive Keychain project, follow 
You are solely responsible for the security and use of your Hive account.
2. Content on Hive
Content you view through Ureka is:
- Public and permanent
- Stored on a decentralized blockchain
- Not modifiable or removable by the Ureka website, except where the content owner uses Ureka in their browser to edit their own content.
You understand that Ureka cannot and does not moderate or remove blockchain content.
Ureka does not endorse any specific content shown via this interface.
2A. Notifications Service (PNS)
Notifications are optional: Enabling them authorises Ureka to query the Ureka PNS API for your account and open a live server-sent events (SSE) stream.
Public data only: Notification items are derived from public Hive operations (e.g., votes, replies, mentions, transfers) based on your on-chain notification configuration that you choose to write with Hive Keychain (custom_json, id notify). These settings are public and may be visible/usable across compatible apps.
No indefinite storage: For delivery efficiency, PNS keeps a short-lived cache of notification items and automatically prunes this cache on a rolling basis (currently 30 days). Notifications are not stored indefinitely on our servers.
Opt-out: You can disable notifications in Ureka at any time via the notifications settings page or remove your on-chain notification subscription rules directly. Disabling notifications stops your browser from connecting to the PNS API.
3. Responsibility and Conduct
You agree to use Ureka in a way that is:
- Respectful to others
- In alignment with peaceful and constructive dialogue
- Not abusive, harassing, or harmful
You retain full responsibility for your actions on the Hive blockchain. Ureka does not intervene in disputes, censor content, or offer moderation services beyond what the Hive protocol itself allows. Moderation is the responsibility of Hive users.
4. No Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law:
- Ureka provides this site “as-is” with no warranty
- Ureka disclaims liability for content posted on Hive
- Ureka is not liable for actions taken by other users
- Ureka is not responsible for third-party embeds or linked services, including the optional live chat features. All private chat messages are end-to-end encrypted and processed via the Peakd.com chat server. You agree to the PeakD Terms of Service when opting to use the chat system on Ureka.
- Ureka makes no guarantees of notification delivery, timeliness, completeness or accuracy. You understand notifications may be delayed, duplicated, missed or unavailable during network or service interruptions.
- Ureka may modify, limit, or discontinue the notifications feature at any time. The short-lived server cache used for notifications is pruned on a rolling basis and is not a permanent archive.
If you believe harmful or unlawful content exists on Hive, you must address it via the decentralised governance structures provided by Hive itself.
5. Financial Risk Disclaimer
Ureka is a platform that interacts with the Hive blockchain and may involve cryptocurrency-based rewards and transactions.
By using Ureka:
- You acknowledge that cryptocurrency markets are highly volatile.
-You accept that you are solely responsible for your financial decisions and understand that no guarantees of profit or value stability are made. - No part of this site constitutes financial advice.
- Past rewards or earnings are not indicative of future performance.
- Ureka in no way manages or is responsible for the economics, token mechanics, token trading or any other financial process of the Hive blockchain.
6. Security Disclaimer
While Ureka does not store sensitive data or have access to user funds:
- The Hive ecosystem is decentralised and open, meaning that malicious actors may attempt scams, phishing, or impersonation.
- Ureka does not verify the identity or intentions of users on the blockchain.
- Always verify transaction details and account names carefully.
- Always use Hive keychain or similar secure signing tools and never enter your private keys on untrusted websites.
- Enabling notifications does not grant Ureka access to your private keys. Configuration writes are signed in your browser via Hive Keychain. The notifications service relays public blockchain events and uses only minimal, operational infrastructure necessary to deliver them.
The Ureka website uses best practices to attempt to protect users by filtering out potentially malicious code that may have been saved in the Hive blockchain.
7. Intellectual Property and Use Restrictions
Unless otherwise stated, all content on this site—including (not including content derived from the Hive blockchain) its codebase, visual design, branding, and user interface elements — is the intellectual property of the Ureka project and its creator(s).
You may not copy, fork, reproduce, republish, or commercially exploit the Ureka website code, brand, or any derivative works without prior explicit permission.
Ureka may incorporate open-source components, which remain under their respective licenses. All original code and integrations unique to Ureka remain proprietary unless stated otherwise.
Any unauthorized use or misrepresentation of Ureka’s branding, codebase, or intellectual property may result in appropriate legal or reputational recourse.
8. Future Features
Ureka may introduce a Layer 2 token and/or smart contract functionality in the future. Participation in these systems is optional and will include clear terms at the time of rollout.
9. Jurisdiction
This website is operated outside the bounds of any formal corporate or legal entity. It is part of a decentralized network and is not subject to specific national regulations unless explicitly stated.
By using the site, you accept that Ureka does not act as a data controller or service provider in the traditional legal sense.
10. Contact
Questions, feedback, or disputes may be addressed via Hive communication channels. There is no centralized helpdesk or support service at this time. Follow
