My goal
Create functional and clean logo for SteemGigs website. I was exploring ways to construct letters S and G and add Steem symbol if possible.

2 winning ideas.
Construction
I used basic shapes and lines to construct both symbols. The main work was done while sketching.
Typography
Design 1
Source Sans Pro Black was chosen because of the clean geometric style of Gs. I used black font in caps to match the weight of symbol.
Design 2
Poppins Bold was chosen because of circular shape of "e" and "g" to match circular symbol. Thats why I used minuskuls.
Colors
I started with regular Steem color palette., but I decided to make it a bit more saturated and vibrant. Same colors wehre chosen for both designs.

Benefits / Improvements
I was aiming for extreme simplicity. Symbol, created form basic shapes resembles small "g" in first design and capital G combined with straight Steem logo in 2nd design.
Both symbols are paired with modern, geometric typefaces.
Tools
Adobe Illustrator for design, Photoshop for mockups. I designed all mockups myself.
