I suggest that the layout be changed from the sea background to a three dimension acquarium style. This will enable users to pan left-right then up-down to give them a better look at the datas represented. This will look more like the gif above as users will be able to view the image from different directions just by swiping up , down and sideways. The different views will be designed as such to suit the angle of sight. For example when a user swipes down, the images changes gradually to a plan veiw to enable them to view as though looking from th top of the water, and swiping up will make it look as though one is viewing from the bottom of the sea. Swiping left or right will take the view as though you are looking from right to left as expressed in the gif above.

If the three dimension acquarium style may be too hard to achieve now, i suggest that there be data spaced out on the screen instead of a clumsy one - it will be better this way. This may be some sort of grouping or categorization of data more effectively than it is now.
