As Utopian-io grows and continues to gain popularity, the ability to manage all the various post submissions from the thousands of users continue to get more complicated. On a daily basis, I notice people asking when their post will be reviewed - I myself on occasion am one of those individuals and I am sure it can get frustrating to moderators and supervisors alike. I'm sure with the number of posts created daily, most of the MODs who review spend a majority of their time and day reading, providing feedback, and approving posts and may not even have time for themselves to create their own posts. I assume the demand grows faster than the capability to manage the volume.
I'm not 100% sure how the review process works, but I'm sure some if not all of the MODs use the Utopian-io channel and the different channel categories as one resource to ensure they are getting to everyone's post. What I havenoticed though is that using this method can get confusing and difficult to keep track of which posts have already been reviewed.
With the number of links listed as well as the number of MODs who view the channels, it's hard to tell what has been looked and reviewed and who is reviewing what.
With that in mind, I have a couple of suggestions which may help (assuming they are not already in place) to streamline and hopefully bring some efficiencies to the review process.
- Delete the links to the already reviewed posts within every category. This would make the Reviewers and Mods task much easier and help them organize what has and has not been reviewed. If you look at some of the topic channels, you will notice that there are posts dating back months. I understand this could serve as a form of "post-promotion," but isn't that what the actual post-promo channel is for?
- Assign MODs to categories or topic channels and change them up weekly/monthly. This allows for a few select people to better manage the topics and channel they are responsible for. Switching them up weekly/monthly helps to add variety to the content they review.
Utopian-io will continue to grow and so will the number of posts that need to be reviewed. This will hopefully serve as suggestions to organize the process a bit and help the current MODs reviewing posts reduce the workload or at least make it more manageable as more mods and content reviewers are identified.
Thanks for considering my suggestions!
