Add Select, multiple select, delete and mark read news

Newscatchr is an open source app that allows the user read news freely from various new feed sites like cnn.com, reuters.com, nytimes.com etc. this app keeps users up to date with happenings around them by delivering various category news to the users. while using his app, i noticed that i can not differentiate between the news that i have read and the ones unread. i also observed that i can note select a given headline(s) for a desired action like delete, these been the case, i want to suggest the followings.

Proposal

i want to propose the following:

1. Add the feature that will enable the user select a given headline or select more than one headline: this feature will help the user carry out a given action to the selected headlines at the same time instead of repeating such action one after another. for example, if i want to share 5 headline at once, instead of sharing them one after another, with this feature, i should be able to select all the desire headline and share them at once without repetition.
   it should be done in such a way that if for example you open a news feed site say CNN.com, there you will see many headlines, so when you long press a headline, it should be selected, then tapping on other headline will select them too. then by the top right hand side, there should be an icon indicating select all. So when you select as many as you can, there should be action like delete, share and bookmark that can be applied to the selected headlines. picture 1a shows what it should look like is applied.

and 2. Mark read news with different color from the unread news. this will help users know the news they have read and the ones they have not read instead of wasting time opening same news again. picture 1 shows when a news headline is clicked on to show the full news, picture 2 show when the user returned to the news headline feed, and a close look at the headlines, user can not distinguish between read and unread because noting to show that. picture 3 shows how read and unread should appear if this feature is added.

Benefits

the select and multiple select feature will help user be able to apply same action to selected headlines at the same time, thus saving the time and stress of having to apply such action one by one. the delete feature will help the user delete such news that he is not interested in thus avoiding unnecessary news clustering in his or her news feed.
marking the news that a user have read will help users to know at a glance, the news he or she have read and thus avoid wasting time reopening such news again and again
