Components
The current features of the app are the following:
- A simple app for handling Bluetooth discovery and pairing. This project is open-source. The code is distributed under MIT license.
- Can send and receive files like images, videos, recording, music, documents and the like.
Proposal
After my exploration, I would like to suggest the following:
- Add a “my device” which will be the name of the users Blue Pair and can be renamed anytime.
- Add a “check box” beside the name (my device) which has an option of:
(A.) Only visible to paired devices. Tap to make visible to others.
(B.) Visible to all nearby devices (visibility time) - Add a visibility timeout, eg., visible 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 1 hour, never timeout or any time you prefer.
Mockups / Examples
These are the edited photos of my suggestions:
Benefits
Here are the benefits once my proposal for the components/parts/sections of the software will be implemented and solved:
With the “my device” option, the users can change or rename his/her Blue Pair name. So whenever, the user wants to have different names, he can freely change it with no hassle. Though blue pair’s name is being renamed, it will remain be paired with the device it was paired already.
With the “check box”, the user can now choose if he/she wants to be visible (which means can be found in the scan results of another blue pair user) either in its paired devices or to all nearby devices. For instance, the user don’t want to accept or does not need a pairing confirmation from other device he/she can set the visibility to paired devices only. Another is, if he/she wants to be paired with a new device, he/she can set the device to visible to all nearby devices.
With the help of the visibility timeout, the users will be able to set the time of when or until when his /her device will be visible to either in its paired devices or to all nearby devices. He/she will be able to choose the visibility time in the visible timeout, e.g., visible in 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 1 hour, never timeout or any time you prefer.
