Feed notifications unexpected behavior
Condenser, Steemit's UI shows notifications for certain events, such as new replies or new comments. Notifications are supposed to disappear when the logged in user accesses the information that the notification is referring to. When the user is on the feed page, navigating to the feed page again does not make the notification disappear, while the page scolls to the top. I consider this a UX bug, because the scrolling constitutes a navigation event and the 'Feed' navigation item is not disabled. It likely affects other notification types too.
Testing Environment
- OS X
- Firefox 57.0
Steps to Reproduce
See also the attached gif.
- Go to https://steemit.com
- Login
- Leads to feed page
- Scroll down a bit
- Wait for new item to arrive in the feed (need to follow other accounts...)
- Once notification appears next to the profile image in the header:
- Click profile image to open menu
- Click 'Feed'
- Review result
- Click 'Trending' in header
- Review result
- Open menu and click 'Feed' again
- Review result
Expected Result
Notification next to profile image disappears after clicking 'Feed' for the first time.
Actual Result
Notification does not disappear when clicking on 'Feed' while being on feed page. However, the page scrolls to the top if it was previously not at the top. Only navigating to another page and then navigating back to the feed makes the notification disappear.
