This contribution is a result of collaboration with the project owner who needed an icon for a mobile app and my desire to help him. It's not a task requested by Utopian.

Details
The intent of the app is to help parents keep up to date information on their kids, and to provide parents with relevant information to keep their kids safe and what to do if they can’t find their child. It was created in collaboration with Missing Children Minnesota (MCM) and its key aspects are:
- Allow a parent to enter and maintain information on their kids – measurements, pictures, relevant legal documents;
- Allow a parent to authorize authorities to access the info about a missing child to help in locating/recovering the child;
- Provide the parent with information about how to keep their kids safe and what to do if they can’t find their child.
Icon proposal
MCM already has an official logo, so I was asked to make an icon for the mobile app KidsID using the colors based on MCM logo and a style guide from project repository.
So, my idea of the icon was quite simple and the first draft had three options with different colors.
The PO selected the first option and he also requested icon variations for Android, iOS and Windows.
Benefits / Improvements
The purpose of my proposal was to help this social project to get its visual identity. I used simple idea, which has recognizable form and it's easy to remember. This new icon makes the webapp visually appealing and it can be adapted to different environments. The project owner was very pleased with the result of my work and he’s already updated the project with this new icon.
