Components
mpv-android is a video player for Android based on libmpv. It has spacious number of features like
- Hardware and software video decoding
- Gesture-based seeking and volume/brightness control
- libass support for styled subtitles
- Play network streams with the "Open URL" function
Proposal
In this app here users can play any type of videos as it supports a lot of formats.
I have been using this app for weak it has ample number of features, but It lacks some important features like it does not work in portrait mode and no start over or resume option is available.
I'm proposing to add two features in it these are
1, App should be able to work in portrait mode.
2,start over or resume option
These two features are available in most of leading video players:
Above screenshots are taken from Xplayer which has these both features enabled.
- The below screen shot shows the present status of the app which has these both features enabled.
Mockups / Examples
The two features can be put like this in mpv-android, The black arrow shows the position of feature where we have changed the orientation of the screen from landscape to portrait.
Benefits
Portrait mode provides an immersive experience to the users with a half screen video player. Some people love watching videos in portrait mode so this feature is very beneficial for any video player.
Start over or resume is also an important feature if you are watching any video and suddenly you have to go for any work, after come back from work you don't need to forward the video. Resume option will help you to start a video from which you seen it. Start over is a feature which helps you start a video from the beginning.
