Day 2 in Florida
Yesterday morning and I walked to Publix to get a few items that we forget to purchase at Wal-Mart the previous night. Once we got back to our Airbnb, we were off to our first full day at the beach. We got down to the oceanside just before 11am and had our setup ready by 11:15. We have a giant canopy, two comfortable chairs, and a wagon to store everything else we brought with us.
We made the wise decision to place all of our things up on the elevated part of the sand. This allowed us to not have to worry about the tides coming in to get our items wet. We also were given an awesome view to people watch. I must say that from the water, it looked as though we had the best setup out of the other few people on the same beach as us. You can see me posing with the plentiful green sea moss that is washed up on the shore. There was a lot of it in and out of the water. I told myself we must we thankful for the sea moss, not annoyed. It is best to find the positive in everything that we cannot change. I noticed that the textured seaweed was a great way to get all of the sand off of my hands for instance.
loves posing for photos. It's a good thing there were barely any other people in the water besides her and I. From the photos, it looks like we have our own private beach. Just look how gorgeous this gal is. She is also a talented photographer.
I too am equally as comfortable in front of the lens as I am behind the cam. I was finally able to pull out my new dolphin swimming trunks that I purchased for the low a few months back. I decided to wear my Vibram shoes to the beach since there were quite a few shells in the sand. It made my experience walking around on the hot and often times sharp sand a whole lot easier.
Just a little time out in the ocean is all it takes to knock my baby out. She was fast asleep in no time once we got back to our chairs. Getting beat up by waves will drain your energy pretty quickly. We must also take into consideration that we both had eaten some Delta-8 gummies just before we left the Airbnb. I of course am already very accustomed to the effects, but she however rarely eats them. All she had was the tiniest nibble (about 5mg) and next thing you know, she was out like a light. Before she passed out, we had some really deep conversations about life which I can blame on our connection and the Delta-8.
When woke up, she and I both were ready for a snack. We had a sandwich each and a mixture of fruit consisting of watermelon, mango, and pineapple. We had to be cautious of the sun all day since this week was our first time getting some serious sunlight all year. We made sure to reapply sunscreen multiple times. We moved in and out of the shade frequently. Plus we often hid our legs under our towels, not because it was cold either.
After the beach we went out to do some light shopping. My idea was to find her own pair of Vibrams, but they were nowhere to be found. We went to an indoor mall and some outdoor outlets. No luck anywhere, but she did find a cool new orange shirt with matching shorts at H&M. I also got to capture some great photos of my girl sitting by a lovely fountain.
Once we were back at the Airbnb again, we took even more photographs. This time we posed on our amazing balcony that overlooks the marsh. We both are extremely pleased with our Airbnb setup, I'll have a video showcasing that more closely sometime next week. As you can see already, we like to be silly and have fun together.
After our photoshoot, we came back inside to relax for a bit. I began working on my blog some and we watched some of The Mitchells vs The Machines on Netflix. The animated film was actually pretty interesting, but we still didn't manage to finish it.
After about an hour of relaxing inside we went for a walk on the beach. On the way there we stopped at this detailed flower mural painted on a house just across the street from our Airbnb. 's new outfit matched the colorful flowers perfectly.
Now time for more beach photos, except this time it was during the sunset. The lighting was totally different this time because of this. I just can't get enough of the beach. While out there this time, we stumbled upon a large group of surfers catching some waves. It was really fun to watch them in action and it made us both wish we knew how to surf. is the sweetest little conservationist. She insisted upon gathering any trash she saw on the beach and disposing of it once we found a trash can. I never will understand how people can just leave their junk scattered across clean parts of nature. I'm glad she and I both care for what we are lucky enough to have instead of destroying it.
It is pretty clear by these photos as to why we kept going back to the beach multiple times a day. The waves are great here at Vilano Beach, that is one of the main reasons we selected St Augustine of all places. The sand isn't the absolute softest, but the waves make up for that. I like this place better than when I visited Siesta Key with my brother a few years back. The sands there in Sarasota, FL were a lot softer and more white, but there weren't really many waves there. Plus that beach was heavily populated. I love both places, but I prefer having waves to wrestle with. At both beaches in Florida you are able to see your feet in the water. It is however nowhere near as clear and turquoise as a place like Cabbage Beach in Nassau, Bahamas.
Once our sunset beach stroll concluded, we came back home for the night. cooked us a couple of strip steaks to eat at our romantic dinner table. We love eating out, but both of us realize it does save money and often even taste better to eat at home. I'm very thankful that she didn't mind cooking, because I sure did not help outside of cleaning the dishes.
We had another movie playing while she was cooking and after we finished eating. The tv is perfectly visible from the kitchen. She was able to watch while she prepared the food and I enjoyed the zombie action from Army of the Dead on Netflix. I figure we will soon finish both movies that we started while we are here, but I am in no rush since I much rather prefer spending my time at the beach.
Thanks for checking out my blog 😎🤝
I told that the ocean makes me so happy and calms my mind. Instead of thinking of 50 things at once like I normally do, I was only thinking of a few:
- How much I love the sea and everything in it.
- How much I love
and my family.
- How much fun I have getting blasted by waves over and over.
I am overly joyous that we are finally getting to spend some time together here in Florida. Look out for my Day 3 post tomorrow.
