A lot of people rely on seeds such as Flax seeds, Chia seeds etc. for their omega 3 intakes. but this study here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22830971
shows that we have been eating chia seeds wrong. The study performed on 56 women. They were either given 25 grams of whole or milled chia seeds or placebo each day for 10 weeks.
At the end of the 10-week period, the subjects who received ground chia seeds had high blood levels of both ALA and EPA. No significant increase in either of these healthy fatty acids was found in either the whole chia seed or placebo groups.
so folks, ground your chia seeds along with the flax seeds for enhancing those omega 3 gains!!
