The Black Country Museumis located at Dudley which is a town in the UK.
The black country is an area in the centre of the UK, just north of Birmingham that was the powerhouse of British manufacturing. Steel products, copper pipes, chains, heavy machinery, cars, motorbikes, nuts and bolts, boilers that powered the factories and many more industries thrived here.
The result was chimneys belching out black and grey smoke. Hence the sky was dark and the area known as the black country.
The museum celebrates the history of the area. I hope you enjoy the pictures. I took these a few years ago. Sadly most of these manufacturers are long gone, although some were still active in my youth.
I took these with a tiny HP photosmart camera.
