This Car is a bit unusual for a number of reasons. The NSU Ro 80 was built from 1967 through 1977 in a single generation and it's coach work would not be out of place for Cars of a more recent vintage. Also uncommon for Cars of the 60's, it has 4 wheel independent suspension with McPherson Struts up front, trailing arms in the rear, rack and pinion steering and front wheel drive. This combination of features only became a standard in the 80's. That's not where the unusual way of thinking ended, it was also equipped with a 3 speed semi automatic transmission that lacked a clutch but retained the familiar H pattern shift gate. To top of the list of unusual items is the Engine, which was a twin rotor Wankel or rotary motor. Unfortunately the engine had a metallurgical issue with it's rotor seals that ruined the companies reputation before they fixed it a year later.
NSU was bought by VW and was merged with Auto Union to form Audi.
