The burning of Judas is one of the traditions of Venezuela that represents the discontent of the society with the political events as well as its behavior in general, but it also serves to end the Lent preparing its resurrection for the next year. The reason for these burning is to remember the betrayal of Judas to Christ, alluding to the betrayal of the character to his people. The Judas doll that is burned is made with old red cloths and rags, filled with fireworks, which are lit when the doll is hanged and burned.
