Our Magnificent Immune System

When thinking about interspecies wars on this planet, or even predator-prey relationships, the big reptiles, felines and canines often come to mind. Lions, tigers, alligators, snakes, scorpions and so on, are usually perceived as our greatest "enemies" because their instincts are to harm or even eat us.
In reality, our greatest threat comes from microorganisms. From fungi that are trying to eat our skins, bacteria that are trying to decompose us, to viruses that can decimate us from inside-out, we are bombarded by trillions of these unseen monsters daily.
Our species would have lost the big fight, but for our truly magnificent inbuilt defence system - the Immune System. From the military cells that that are mobilised to fight invaders, to the diplomatic cells that have negotiated symbiotic truces with microbes, to intellectual cells that create new weapons to fight future threats, the system is truly mindbogglingly organised and complex.
I am truly in awe of our defence system. We face an ocean of attacks on this Darwinian planet but we are more than up to the task. We've truly earned our right to be here.
Peace & Love,
AdeΜ
